An honest comparison

URBI vs Cubigo

Cubigo is the most credible comparison URBI has in senior living: more than 500 communities in six countries, more than 500,000 users, and a module for nearly every part of the resident experience. The question is not whether that suite is broad. It is what the platform runs itself, and what it hands off to somebody else's system. Here is the real comparison, including the places URBI is behind.

Cubigo is the closest functional overlap URBI has in senior living: a genuinely broad suite across engagement, services, hospitality and visitor management. The difference is ownership. Cubigo's operational depth arrives through integrations outward to clinical, financial and maintenance systems. URBI runs those operations natively, in one system, month to month.

Choose URBI if

  • You want the operational work to happen inside the platform: service tickets with four priorities and seven stages, a vendor master with RFP and per vendor board voting, and vendors working a tokenized portal with no account to provision
  • You want money to land in your community's own connected Stripe account, with Apple Pay, Google Pay, autopay and payment reminders on the same records as the booking that created the charge
  • You want life enrichment that closes the loop: events with ticketing, RSVP, waitlists and vendors, AI survey reports after the event, news with three urgency levels and per resident delivery tracking, and URBI Display in the lobby and elevators with an emergency takeover
  • You want two AI agents doing two different jobs: Arthur answering residents and family members over voice, SMS, email and in app chat in ten languages and then opening the service ticket, booking the amenity, registering the parking or pre scheduling the visitor the moment a person confirms it, and HERO answering the Executive Director from live records rather than from a dashboard someone built last quarter
  • You want management to own what the AI says: when Arthur does not know, it escalates to the team with a summary rather than guessing, then relays the answer in its own voice and files it in a knowledge base scoped to that community, which the Executive Director can view, edit and delete entry by entry
  • You want one permanent audit trail across every action, role change, vote, waiver, check in, payment and AI tool call, and a month to month agreement you can leave at any time

Choose Cubigo if

  • You need a dining point of sale, menu management, in suite dining, self service kiosks and a resident wallet with credits and meal plans on day one. URBI ships amenity and common space bookings and an in app marketplace, but no dining point of sale and no menu management today
  • Your procurement requires certifications already in hand: Cubigo's platform page states ISO 27001:2022 certification and GDPR, HIPAA and SOC2 compliance, while URBI's SOC 2 Type II is in progress and not published
  • You need live two way sync with an existing clinical or financial system of record. Cubigo publishes named integration partners including PointClickCare, MatrixCare, Alis, Yardi, QuickBooks, Square and TheWorxHub; URBI imports by CSV today and has no live two way sync
  • You want a vendor with senior living communities already live at scale, more than 500 of them across six countries. URBI's live doors today are residential, and it has no senior living communities yet

What is the real difference between URBI and Cubigo?

Cubigo is an integrated platform for residents, family members and team members, built as modules: Engagement, Services, Hospitality, Visitor Management, Insights and Integrations, reaching people through apps, digital screens, point of sale and kiosks. That is a genuinely broad surface, and it is the closest functional overlap with URBI anywhere in senior living. Nothing in this comparison depends on pretending otherwise.

The difference shows up one layer down, in where the operational work actually happens. Cubigo's own integrations page names the systems its depth reaches out to: PointClickCare, MatrixCare, Alis, Vitals and Yardi for records, QuickBooks, Xero, Square, GoCardless, MRI and Microsoft Dynamics 365 for money, TheWorxHub, TELS and Dwellant for maintenance. The suite coordinates and displays; the systems of record sit outside it.

URBI runs those operations itself. Service tickets, vendor dispatch, bookings, payments, events, news, visitors, registrations, governance votes and the audit trail are all native records in one system, which is also why URBI's AI has something to answer from. An Executive Director evaluating both should ask a single question of each module: when this breaks at nine on a Saturday night, is the fix inside this platform, or inside somebody else's?

How deep does each platform go on services, maintenance and vendors?

Cubigo's Services module brings maintenance, housekeeping, transportation and IT support into one place: residents and team members submit and track jobs, requests can be made billable, and the module reports on usage. That solves the intake problem well, and for many communities intake is the loudest problem. What Cubigo publishes about the work behind the request is thinner, and its own integrations page points serious maintenance operations at TheWorxHub, TELS and Dwellant.

URBI treats the work itself as the product. A service ticket moves through seven stages, carries one of four priorities, and can hold subtasks, sit inside a project, or recur on a schedule. Vendors live in a vendor master with RFP and per vendor board voting, and they do the job through a tokenized work order portal, which means the roofer gets an emailed link and no account, and nobody on the team spends a morning provisioning logins for a trade that visits twice a year.

Every one of those steps writes to the same permanent audit trail that holds role changes, votes, waivers, check ins, payments and AI tool calls. When a family member asks why the grab bar took eleven days, the answer is a record, not a reconstruction from three systems and somebody's memory.

URBI: seven ticket stages, four priorities, subtasks, projects, recurrence, vendor master, RFP, per vendor board voting, tokenized vendor portal with no login

Cubigo: maintenance, housekeeping, transportation and IT support intake in one system, with billable requests, custom notifications and analytics

Cubigo: deeper maintenance and asset work is named on its own integrations page as TheWorxHub, TELS and Dwellant

URBI: asset management and certificate of insurance tracking are coming soon, not shipped today

How do engagement and life enrichment compare?

Cubigo's Engagement module is strong on the calendar side: centralized activity calendars, attendance tracking, community news, tailored notifications and reminders, a morning check in that includes a passive option, engagement dashboards, digital displays, print services for calendars, flyers, menus and directories, and a searchable resident directory filtered by interests, backgrounds and hobbies. A life enrichment team that lives inside a calendar will recognize its own job in that list.

URBI carries the event further than the calendar entry. An event holds ticketing, RSVP, waitlists and its own vendors, and after it happens URBI produces an AI survey report on what residents actually thought. News carries three urgency levels and three delivery modes, runs through an AI urgency scan, and tracks delivery per resident, so the question of whether the elevator outage notice actually reached the fourth floor has an answer instead of an assumption.

The screens are part of the same system rather than a separate signage product. URBI Display runs the lobby and elevator screens with building news, events, local news and weather, and flips every screen to an emergency takeover for fire, water or board notices the moment the team needs it to. Both platforms put content on a screen. Only one of them can seize every screen in the community from the same login that filed the work order.

What about dining, hospitality and visitor management?

On dining, Cubigo is ahead and it is worth saying plainly. Its Hospitality module publishes a dining point of sale, table reservations, self service kiosks for residents, team members and guests, menu management with flexible menus and pricing, in suite dining, concierge services residents can request and pay for, and a resident wallet with a credits system and customizable meal plans. URBI ships amenity and common space bookings with conflict detection, an in app marketplace and concierge messaging, but no dining point of sale and no menu management today. A community whose central problem is the dining room should weigh that honestly.

Visitor management is closer, and the shapes differ. Cubigo publishes a sign in kiosk, safety screening questions, printed badges carrying name, photo and visit duration, immediate arrival notifications, QR contactless check in and live visitor data for emergency accountability. It is a well built front desk product.

URBI treats arrival as one part of a wider access record. Visitors are typed as guests, contractors, deliveries or service, carry QR passes, and can be gated behind waivers at check in; parking and guest parking are managed in the same place; and registrations cover fobs, bikes, keys, storage, pets and vehicles. All of it writes to the permanent audit trail, so who was in the community, on what authority, and who let them in is a query rather than a stack of printed badge stubs.

How do the two AI stories compare?

Cubigo publishes AI in one place: the Insights module, where predictive analytics are described as AI driven tools that forecast service demand, anticipate resident needs and identify potential challenges, alongside corporate reports, community and service level insights, Resident 360 profiles and real time dashboards. A conversational agent for residents, family members or Executive Directors is not published on Cubigo's product pages.

URBI runs two agents and never merges them. Arthur faces residents and family members over phone, SMS, email and in app chat, in ten languages, with sentiment scoring and PIN verification before anything sensitive. Arthur does more than answer: it creates service tickets, books amenities, registers parking, pre schedules visitors, RSVPs residents to events, sends forms, pulls receipts, sends payment links and requests refunds with Executive Director approval. Reads come back instantly and every action waits for a person to confirm it, so a resident texting at eleven at night that the heat is out gets an answer, a logged ticket the team approved and the right vendor dispatched, then follow up until it is closed. Arthur is on the Premium tier.

The question worth pressing on is what happens when Arthur does not know. It escalates to the team with a summary instead of guessing, then adapts the answer it gets back into its own voice, relays it to the resident or the family member, and saves it to a knowledge base scoped to that community with semantic matching, so the next person who asks the same thing in different words is answered without anyone being interrupted. The team views, edits and deletes those entries, which means the answers residents and family members receive are governed by management rather than improvised. For a community weighing how much of this to turn on, that control panel is the whole argument.

HERO faces the operator. An Executive Director types a question in plain language and HERO builds the answer from live records across the property knowledge graph, then takes action, with every tool call written to the audit log. The distinction matters at purchase time: an analytics module tells you what happened after the fact, while an agent picks up the phone at the moment the resident is unhappy.

Arthur: residents and family members, voice, SMS, email, in app chat, ten languages, sentiment scoring, PIN verification before anything sensitive. Premium tier

Arthur acts inside the records: service tickets, amenity bookings, parking registrations, visitor pre scheduling, event RSVPs, forms, receipts and payment links, with reads instant and every action held for a person to confirm

Arthur escalates rather than guesses, then saves the team's answer to a community scoped knowledge base with semantic matching that the Executive Director can view, edit and delete

Arthur on the phone: patience based turn taking that does not cut a resident off mid pause, mood aware tone, household scoped answers, consent first transfers, and a guaranteed transcript, summary and team notification even if the call drops

HERO: Executive Directors and staff, answers and reports built from live records, full audit log of every tool call. Desktop web

Cubigo: AI driven predictive analytics inside Insights, forecasting service demand and anticipating resident needs

Cubigo conversational AI for residents or operators: Not published

Where is URBI behind Cubigo today, and what does each cost?

Three gaps, stated straight. URBI has no published SOC 2 report; the Type II is in progress. Cubigo's platform page states ISO 27001:2022 certification and full GDPR, HIPAA and SOC2 compliance, and its homepage states HIPAA compliance and ISO 27001 adherence, so a procurement team that needs certificates in hand today will get a faster yes from Cubigo. URBI also has no live two way sync with a clinical or financial system of record: CSV import is what exists today, against Cubigo's published partner list. And URBI has no senior living communities live yet. The platform runs residential buildings today and every capability described here carries over directly, but a community that needs to call three peer references in its own market should know that up front.

One more boundary worth stating, because it decides which vendor conversation this even is. URBI runs the building and the community side: operations, communication, payments, engagement, visitors and governance. URBI does not do clinical or care records, and does not claim to. Cubigo's integrations to PointClickCare, MatrixCare, Alis and Vitals sit on the same boundary from the other direction.

On commercial terms, URBI is the one with something published. Three inclusive tiers priced per building, custom by volume, no setup fee on the paid tiers, no per module charges, and month to month with no service agreement, so a community that is unhappy in the fourth month leaves in the fourth month. Cubigo publishes no pricing page, no plan structure and no contract length: Not published, and discoverable only through a sales process.

Where URBI is simply the better choice

Cubigo is a real suite and a fair fight. For a community that wants its operations run rather than coordinated, the comparison still reads one way:

  • Operations owned natively versus operations coordinated outward: service tickets, priorities, vendor dispatch and a tokenized vendor portal inside the platform, not handed to TheWorxHub or TELS, with every step landing on one permanent audit trail
  • Money in the community's own connected Stripe account, on the same records as the booking that created the charge, instead of a billing module pointed at outside payment and accounting partners
  • Life enrichment that closes the loop: ticketing, RSVP, waitlists, AI survey reports afterward, news with per resident delivery tracking, and every screen in the building available for an emergency takeover
  • Two AI agents doing two jobs, Arthur answering residents and family members in ten languages and acting on what they ask once a person confirms, and HERO for the Executive Director, against predictive analytics inside a reporting module
  • Answers management controls: every question Arthur cannot answer goes to the team and comes back as a knowledge base entry the community can view, edit and delete, so what residents and family members are told is governed rather than improvised, against a suite with no conversational agent published at all
  • Month to month with published tier structure and no setup fee, against a contract model Cubigo does not publish at all

URBI vs Cubigo: common questions

Is URBI a replacement for Cubigo?

For engagement, services, visitor management, payments and reporting, yes, and URBI runs those natively rather than coordinating them outward. The honest exception is dining: Cubigo publishes a dining point of sale, menu management, self service kiosks and a resident wallet with meal plans, and URBI does not ship those today. Bring your current Cubigo workflows to a demo and watch which ones run end to end in URBI.

Does URBI have senior living communities live today?

No, and we will not imply otherwise. URBI's live doors today are residential buildings, where the platform runs service tickets, vendors, bookings, payments, events, news, visitors, governance and both AI agents every day. Those are the same capabilities a senior living community needs, rendered in senior living language by the platform's terminology engine, but the senior living reference calls do not exist yet. Early communities get founder access and real influence over the roadmap.

Does URBI handle clinical records or care documentation?

No. URBI runs the building and community side: operations, maintenance, vendors, bookings, payments, engagement, visitors, communication and governance. Clinical and care records stay in your clinical system. Cubigo draws the same line from the other side, which is why its integrations page names PointClickCare, MatrixCare, Alis, Vitals and Yardi. Neither platform is a clinical system; both sit alongside one.

How does URBI's security posture compare to Cubigo's?

Cubigo is ahead on paperwork today. Its platform page states ISO 27001:2022 certification and full GDPR, HIPAA and SOC2 compliance, with encryption, access controls and real time monitoring. URBI encrypts in transit, shares no data with third parties, and writes a permanent audit trail on every action, role change, vote, waiver, check in, payment and AI tool call, but its SOC 2 Type II is in progress and not published, and URBI has no SSO or SCIM today. If certificates in hand are a hard gate, say so early in the conversation.

Can URBI sync with our clinical or financial system?

Today URBI imports by CSV. There is no live two way sync with clinical or property systems, and no published public API; integrations are handled case by case. Cubigo publishes a named partner list including PointClickCare, MatrixCare, Alis, Vitals, Yardi, QuickBooks, Xero, Square, GoCardless, MRI, Microsoft Dynamics 365, TheWorxHub, TELS and Power BI. If continuous two way sync is a requirement rather than a preference, that difference is real.

How do payments work in URBI compared to Cubigo?

URBI opens a Stripe Connect account per property, so payments for bookings and marketplace purchases settle into the community's own connected account, with Apple Pay, Google Pay, autopay, payment reminders and portal payments on the same records as the request that created the charge. URBI accounting is In Beta. Cubigo publishes a billing and payments module and a resident wallet, and names Square, GoCardless, QuickBooks, Xero, MRI and Microsoft Dynamics 365 as payment, billing and accounting partners; the underlying merchant arrangement is Not published.

What does each platform do for life enrichment teams?

Cubigo gives the team activity calendars, attendance tracking, community news, notifications, digital displays, print services for calendars and flyers, and an interest based resident directory. URBI runs the event itself: ticketing, RSVP, waitlists, event vendors, and an AI survey report afterward on how residents actually found it, plus news with three urgency levels and per resident delivery tracking and URBI Display screens that can be taken over for an emergency. One tool publishes the calendar; the other runs the evening.

What does URBI cost, and how long is the commitment?

URBI has three inclusive tiers priced per building, custom by volume, with no setup fee on the paid tiers and no per module charges, and the agreement is month to month with no service agreement, so a community can leave at any time. Cubigo publishes no pricing page, no plan structure and no contract length anywhere on its site, so the number and the term both arrive through a sales conversation.
