Where does Building Engines stop and leave you buying more software?
The honest limitation is scope. Building Engines has limited tenant experience features and relies on HqO, another JLL Technologies product, for that layer. It has no amenity booking or community engagement tools, and no embedded fintech or expense management. Its AI capabilities arrived in 2025 and are still maturing. And because it is heavily tied to the JLL ecosystem, operators outside JLL managed portfolios may hesitate to build on it.
In practice, a building running Building Engines still needs a second product for the tenant facing side: the app tenants open, the announcements they read, the conference rooms they book, the events they attend.
