The keyboard shortcut to create a new news article has changed from N to Shift+N. The news create drawer is now also available from any page — you no longer need to navigate to the News section first.

What changed and why

The previous shortcut (N) conflicted with the shortcut for opening the notes modal. Both could not exist on the same key. The fix:

Shift+N

Open the notes modal

N (was broken in some contexts)

N

How to create news from anywhere

  1. Press Shift+N on any page in the URBI staff portal.

  2. The Create News drawer opens immediately — no need to navigate to Engage → News first.

  3. Write and publish your article as usual.

The news drawer is now global

Previously, the create news button was only visible on the News page. Now the drawer is available everywhere. You can also open it from:

  • The command palette (open with / or Cmd+K) — search for "Create News" and select it.

  • The News page — the existing button on the News page still works.

Notes

  • If you press N by itself, the Notes modal opens as expected. Shift+N is required for news.

  • The change only affects the keyboard shortcut. All other news creation and publishing behavior is unchanged.
