Overview

As a verified board member, you can review and vote on pending decisions directly in URBI Kore on both desktop and mobile. This guide covers how to cast your vote, use batch voting, vote from the mobile app, and how majority is calculated.

Who Can Vote

Only verified board members for the property can cast votes. Your board membership must be confirmed by a property administrator. If you cannot see the voting panel, contact your property manager.

Voting on Desktop

Step 1: Open the Decision

Navigate to Board Decisions from the left sidebar. Click any decision with an Open status to open the detail drawer on the right side of the screen.

Step 2: Review the Details

The detail drawer has three tabs. Start on the Overview tab to read the title, description, and category. Switch to the Documents tab to review attached files. Check the Comments tab for discussion from other board members.

Step 3: Cast Your Vote

The voting panel on the Overview tab shows three options:

  • Approve (green): You support the motion passing

  • Reject (red): You oppose the motion

  • Abstain (gray): You choose not to vote for or against

Click your choice. A confirmation appears and the vote tally updates in real time.

Changing Your Vote

You can change your vote at any time while the decision remains open. Simply click a different option and your previous vote is replaced.

Batch Voting on Desktop

When multiple decisions are pending, Batch Voting lets you review and vote on them one at a time using a card stack interface.

How to Start Batch Voting

Click the Batch Vote button at the top of the Board Decisions page. A modal opens showing decisions as stacked cards.

Swiping Cards

Drag the top card in any direction to cast your vote:

  • Swipe right: Approve

  • Swipe left: Reject

  • Swipe up: Abstain

  • Swipe down: Skip to the next decision without voting

As you drag, a colored indicator appears showing which action will be taken. The card rotates and fades as you swipe, then the next card slides into place.

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Right Arrow or A: Approve

  • Left Arrow or R: Reject

  • Up Arrow: Abstain

  • Down Arrow or Space: Skip

  • Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z: Undo your last vote

Progress and Undo

A progress bar at the top tracks how many decisions you have voted on. If you change your mind, click the Undo button or press Ctrl+Z to go back one card and remove your last vote.

Voting on Mobile

From a Notification

When a new decision is created, you receive a push notification. Tap it to go directly to the decision detail screen in the URBI mobile app.

From the App

Open the URBI app and navigate to Operations from the bottom navigation bar. Tap Decisions to see all pending decisions for your property.

Voting from the Decision Detail

Tap any open decision to open the detail drawer (slides up from the bottom). The drawer has three tabs: Overview, Documents, and Comments. After reviewing the details, use the voting buttons fixed at the bottom of the screen. Tap Approve, Reject, or Abstain to cast your vote.

Swipe to Vote from the List

On the decisions list, you can swipe directly on any open decision card:

  • Swipe right: Approve (green background appears)

  • Swipe left: Reject (red background appears)

A colored indicator slides into view behind the card as you swipe, confirming which action will be taken.

Batch Voting on Mobile

Tap the Batch Vote button at the top of the decisions list. A bottom sheet opens with the same card stack experience as desktop. Swipe cards in any direction:

  • Swipe right: Approve

  • Swipe left: Reject

  • Swipe up: Abstain

  • Swipe down: Skip

On-screen instruction arrows remind you which direction does what.

Adding Comments

Use the Comments tab in either the desktop drawer or the mobile detail screen to discuss the motion with other board members before or after voting.

  • Type your comment in the input field at the bottom

  • Use @ to mention specific board members by name. They will receive a notification.

  • Comments appear in real time for all viewers

  • You can delete your own comments by clicking the trash icon

How Majority Works

A decision passes when it reaches the required number of approval votes. The majority threshold is: floor(total_board_members / 2) + 1.

Example: With 5 board members, the threshold is floor(5/2) + 1 = 3, so 3 approvals are needed to pass.

Abstentions count toward the total member count but not toward approvals or rejections. This means abstaining effectively makes it harder for a motion to pass.

Vote Results

The vote results card on the Overview tab shows the current tally of approvals, rejections, and abstentions. Individual votes are visible to all board members, including each person's name and how they voted.

FAQ

What happens after everyone votes?

Once all board members have voted (or the administrator closes voting), the decision status changes to Closed and the final result is recorded permanently.

Can I vote after a decision is closed?

No. Once closed, voting is locked and no changes can be made.

Will I get reminders?

Yes. If you have not voted on a pending decision, you may receive reminder notifications. Vote or abstain on all open decisions to stop receiving reminders.
