Your screens can give a single event the entire display, photo and all. It is the strongest thing they can do to draw attention to something, and there are only two conditions.
Both apply to the next event coming up, not to any event in your list. If your next event has no photo, the screen will not skip past it to find one that does. It simply carries on with the normal rotation until that event has started.
Events take turns with the other content. The first time an event comes round it appears in the middle column. The next time, if it meets the two conditions above, it takes the whole screen. Then it goes back to the middle column, and so on.
The photo fills the screen. The event's date sits in the top corner, when it starts and its clock time run across the middle, then the title, where it is, and the code to scan. The rest of the screen dims behind it.
Use a landscape photograph with room in it. The title and time sit across the middle of the image, so a photo with a busy centre makes them harder to read from across a lobby. Something with sky, water, a wall or an open floor in the middle works best.
