An amenity can now show up to ten photos instead of just one. This guide covers adding photos while you create an amenity, and changing them afterwards, which previously was not possible at all.

Who this applies to: staff, property managers and board members with permission to edit amenities. If you can open an amenity and change its settings, you can manage its photos.

How the ten photos work

Every amenity has one cover photo and up to nine additional photos, so ten in total. The cover is the one residents see first, and it is the image used anywhere the amenity appears as a single picture. The additional photos appear after it when a resident swipes through the amenity.

The counter you see on an amenity card, for example 4/10 photos, always includes the cover. An amenity with a cover and three additional photos reads as 4/10.

Adding photos while creating an amenity

  1. Go through the create steps as usual. Photos are the sixth step.

  2. Set the cover. Upload your own image, or pick one from the stock library. This part has not changed.

  3. Add additional photos. Below the cover there is now a grid where you can add up to nine more. You can select several files at once. Each one uploads as you add it, so you can see which have finished.

  4. Reorder them if you want. Drag a photo to a new spot, or use the keyboard: focus a photo, press space or enter to pick it up, use the arrow keys to move it, then press space or enter again to drop it. Press escape to cancel.

  5. Remove anything you do not want. Removing a photo before the amenity is created only removes it from the list you are building.

  6. Finish creating the amenity. The photos are attached to it as part of creation.

If creating the amenity fails, nothing you entered is lost. Your details, your cover and every photo you staged are still there, and Try Again resubmits exactly what you had.

Changing photos after the amenity exists

This is the part that was previously missing. Once an amenity existed, its photo was fixed. There is now a Photos tab on the amenity, and it works for every amenity type.

  1. Open the amenity and choose the Photos tab. You will see the current cover and every additional photo.

  2. Change the cover. Replace swaps it for a new upload, Stock picks one from the library, and Clear removes it. Clearing asks you to confirm first, because until you set a new one residents will see a placeholder where the photo used to be.

  3. Add or remove additional photos. Adding uploads straight away. Removing asks you to confirm, then deletes the photo and its stored file.

  4. Reorder by dragging. The new order saves by itself.

There is no Save button on this tab, and that is deliberate. Every change is saved the moment you make it, and the header tells you when it is saving and when it has saved.

When something does not save

If a change cannot be saved, the tab tells you plainly and puts things back the way they were, rather than showing you something that is not really stored.

For example, if a reorder fails you will see Couldn't save the new order, the photos return to their last saved order, and a Retry button reapplies the exact order you wanted. The same pattern applies to adding, removing and cover changes: you get a short explanation and a Retry, and nothing is left half done.

Other things worth knowing

At the limit. Once an amenity has ten photos the add tile stays visible but is switched off, and hovering or focusing it explains that the maximum has been reached.

View only access. If you can see an amenity but cannot edit it, the Photos tab is a plain gallery. There are no add, remove, reorder or cover controls at all.

Copying an amenity. Copying an amenity also copies its photos, and each copy gets its own files. Deleting a photo from one never affects the other.

Deleting an amenity. Deleting an amenity hides it from residents but keeps its photos, so nothing is permanently destroyed by removing an amenity from the list.
