Escalate a service ticket directly into a board decision, carrying over the title, description, and attached documents.
Last updated
When a service ticket requires a formal board vote — for example, approving a major repair or a vendor contract — you can convert it directly into a board decision. The ticket stays open and links back to the decision.
Who can do this: Any staff or PM user with access to both Service Tickets and Board Decisions for the property.
Open the service ticket you want to escalate. Click its title in the ticket list or open it from the kanban or calendar view.
In the right-side panel (the Task Sidebar), locate the Convert to Board Decision button. It appears next to the existing "Convert to Task" button.
Click Convert to Board Decision. A modal opens pre-filled with: - The ticket's title (editable) - The ticket's description (editable) - A list of attached documents from the ticket, each with a remove button (you can keep or remove any of them before submitting)
Review and edit the title, description, category, and project fields as needed. Remove any documents you do not want to carry over to the decision.
Click Create Decision. The system: - Creates a new board decision of type General - Links it back to this ticket - Notifies all board members by push notification and email that a decision requires their vote - Keeps the ticket Open — it is not closed or resolved
After the modal closes, a confirmation toast appears. The Task Sidebar now shows a Linked board decision · View banner. Click View to go directly to the board decision.
The Activity tab on the ticket also records the conversion with a link to the decision.
A ticket can only be converted once. If a board decision is already linked to the ticket, the Convert to Board Decision button is disabled. Click the "Linked board decision · View" banner to open the existing decision instead.
The ticket stays Open. Converting to a board decision does not change the ticket's status. Continue tracking and resolving the underlying work through the ticket.
Board members are notified. Because this reuses the standard board decision creation flow, all board members on the property receive the usual vote-request notification. Only use this on tickets that genuinely require a board vote.
Documents are copied, not moved. Carried documents remain attached to the original ticket. If a document fails to carry over, a message will appear telling you how many could not be attached — open the decision to re-attach them manually.
