On this page

  • 1. Drag files onto the page
  • 2. Drag files onto a specific folder card instead
  • 3. Watch the upload progress
  • Good to know

Terminology: This universal guide uses neutral descriptions. Follow the property-specific people and location labels shown in your workspace.

You can drag files from your computer straight onto the Documents page instead of using the Add button.

1. Drag files onto the page

Drag one or more files from your desktop over the Documents page. The whole page becomes a drop target and tells you where the files will land.

Dragging files over the page while the Financials folder is open.

Drop to upload into Financials
These files get the same sharing as everything else in Financials. Drop on a folder below to put them there instead.

Release the files anywhere on the page (that is not a folder card) and they upload into the folder you currently have open.

2. Drag files onto a specific folder card instead

If you want the files to go somewhere else, drag them over that folder's card. The card you are hovering becomes the target and every other card dims.

Hovering a folder card during a drag.

Financials
Drop here · 4 files
Insurance

Releasing the files there uploads them into that folder and gives them that folder's sharing, exactly as if you had opened the folder first and used the Add button.

3. Watch the upload progress

An upload panel shows each file with its own progress. Files upload at the same time, and if one fails the others keep going; a failed file gets a Retry option instead of stopping everything.

Uploading 4 files into Financials · 1 done · 2 uploading · 1 failed
2026 Annual Budget.xlsx, 62%
Fire Safety Inspection Report.pdf, failed, retry

Good to know

  • A folder that the system created and manages, like an assigned location's own folder or a maintenance ticket's folder, refuses drops and tells you it is a system folder that does not accept uploads.
  • You need document creating permission to upload this way. If it is off, ask your site administrator to turn it on.
  • Uploading with drag and drop works the same as using Add, Add Document: the file inherits its destination folder's sharing.
