This message means the app found another payment attempt on this invoice that hasn't finished yet. It's a safety check, not an error on your end, and it clears itself on its own, usually within about 15 minutes.

Who this applies to: anyone paying an invoice in the app, including a shared invoice you're paying part of.

Why you're seeing this

Only one payment can be actively processing on an invoice at a time. If you (or, on a shared invoice, someone else on it) already started a payment that's still being worked through, a new attempt on the same invoice is held back until the first one finishes or clears.

This can happen if:

  • you tapped "Pay" twice, or opened the payment screen in two places at once;
  • a previous payment attempt didn't go through cleanly, for example the app closed or your connection dropped partway through;
  • someone else on a shared invoice is paying their part right now.

What to do

  1. Wait a few minutes and try again. Most locks clear on their own within about 15 minutes.
  2. Check whether the payment actually went through first. Look at the invoice or your payment history before retrying, so you don't end up trying to pay something that's already settled.
  3. If it's still stuck after 30 minutes, contact your property's staff. That's longer than any lock should ever last on its own, and they can look into it.

You will never be charged twice because of this message. It exists specifically to prevent that.
