  • FAQ

Beyond the resident portal itself, URBI sends you email notifications, and if you have the URBI mobile app installed, push notifications, so you don't have to keep checking the portal for updates. This article explains what you might receive and how they connect back to your account.

Emails you may receive

These are sent automatically when something happens on your account. You don't need to request them, and they're separate from the one-time sign-in code covered in Signing in to your resident portal.

Email

When it's sent

Sign-in code

Every time you sign in to the portal

New charge / invoice notices

When a new charge is added to your account or an invoice becomes due or goes overdue

Payment receipt

Right after a payment you made goes through

Payment failed

If a payment attempt (including an automatic payment) doesn't go through

Credit or refund notice

When a credit or refund is applied to your account

Charge approval request

When a charge on your account needs your review or approval, or when there's an update on one you already responded to

Shared invoice

When someone (for example a co-resident) shares an invoice with you, or shares their response back with you

All of these come from URBI's transactional sender, noreply@myurbi.co. If you don't see one you're expecting, check your spam folder first, the same way you would for your sign-in code (see Password and sign-in help).

Push notifications and the mobile app

If you have the URBI mobile app installed on your phone and you're signed in, many of the same events (a shared invoice, a new charge, a payment receipt, property news) also arrive as a push notification. Tapping one takes you directly to the right place in the app instead of dropping you on a generic home screen. For example:

  • A shared invoice push opens your Invoices tab, already scrolled to that invoice.

  • A payment receipt or payment failure push opens your Invoices tab so you can see the related charge or invoice.

  • A charge approval push opens your Invoices tab where you can review and respond.

  • A property news push opens the news post directly.

If you don't have the mobile app, or you haven't granted it notification permissions, you'll still get the email version of these updates, you just won't see the push banner or the automatic deep link into a specific screen.

Managing what you receive

  • Push notifications are controlled through your phone's system settings for the URBI app (on iOS: Settings > Notifications > URBI; on Android: Settings > Apps > URBI > Notifications). Turning these off stops push alerts but doesn't affect your email notices.

  • Account emails (receipts, charge and invoice notices, shared invoices) are sent automatically as part of keeping your financial account records accurate and can't currently be turned off individually from within the portal. They're tied to actual account activity, not marketing, so think of them as your account's paper trail.

  • There's currently no notification preference menu inside the portal itself. If you have questions about what you're receiving, or believe you're getting something in error, contact hello@myurbi.co.

What this means for you

You don't have to actively check the portal to stay on top of your account. A new charge, an invoice coming due, or someone sharing an invoice with you will reach your inbox (and your phone, if you have the app) automatically, and tapping through takes you straight to the relevant screen instead of making you hunt for it.

FAQ

Why did I get an email but no push notification (or the other way around)? Emails go out for every account event regardless of whether you have the app. Push notifications only go to the mobile app when you're signed in there and have notifications enabled on your phone.

Can I turn off just the payment receipt emails but keep the others? Not currently. Account-related emails aren't individually toggleable from the portal today. If a specific email is causing confusion or you believe it was sent in error, contact hello@myurbi.co.

I tapped a push notification and it opened the wrong thing (or nothing happened). Make sure your URBI app is up to date. If it still doesn't route correctly, contact hello@myurbi.co with a screenshot if you have one, it helps us track down the issue.

Do I need the mobile app to use the resident portal? No. The portal works fully in your web browser without the app. The app is a separate, optional way to get the same kinds of updates as push notifications on your phone.

Will I get a push notification for portal news? Property news you see in the portal's News tab is read-only there. Push notifications for property announcements come through when your property publishes news through the app's existing announcement system, separate from the portal's News tab.
