Use Messages when you need to start or continue a conversation with people available at your building. This article explains where to find conversations and what the unread number means.

Who this is for: residents using the URBI app. You need to be registered to a building in the app.

Open Messages

Open the Messages tab to see your conversations. Conversations from all of your active buildings appear together. Each row shows the conversation name, a preview of the latest message, and when it was last active.

If you have a conversation with Arthur, it stays at the top of the list and is labelled Always pinned.

Start a new conversation

  1. Tap the New message icon in the top-right corner of Messages.
  2. Choose the building if you belong to more than one.
  3. Choose one or more people from the list, then continue to the message screen.
  4. Type your message and send it.

The people shown are the people your building has made available for resident messages. If Arthur is available for that building, you can select Arthur to open your Arthur conversation instead.

You can add a photo, choose one from your library, or attach a document before sending.

Read and manage conversations

Tap a conversation to open it. Your reply box is available unless that conversation has been made read-only.

Human conversations can be marked read or unread, pinned, or archived from the conversation list. Arthur conversations remain pinned and do not have those list actions.

What the unread number means

A number on a conversation is the count of messages in that conversation you have not read. Open the conversation to mark those messages as seen.

The count may show 99+ when there are more than 99 unread messages.

If New message is missing

The New message icon is shown only when there is someone available to message at one of your active buildings.

It is also unavailable if your occupancy has ended. You can still read your existing conversations in that situation.

If the app is offline, it keeps showing your last-synced conversations but does not let you start a new one until you reconnect.
