  • FAQ

Your property posts announcements, updates, and important notices through the portal's News feed. This article explains what you will see there, how to filter for urgent items, how follow-up updates on a story work, and what to do if you have questions about a post. News is view-only: your property posts, and you read.

What you will see in the feed

The News feed combines two kinds of posts:

  • Property-wide news, sent to everyone at your property.

  • News for your home, targeted specifically to your unit or building.

You do not need to do anything to see both. They appear together in one feed, sorted by publish date.

Each story in the list shows a title, a short preview of the text, a thumbnail image (when one was added), the date it was published, and a badge if it is marked Urgent. If a story has received follow-up updates since it was first posted, you will also see a small badge showing how many updates it has.

If you have access to more than one home, you can switch which home's news you are viewing the same way you switch homes elsewhere in the portal (see the article on units and the unit selector).

The "Urgent first" toggle

At the top of the feed is an Urgent first toggle. It is off by default. Turning it on does not hide any stories, it simply reorders the list so urgent items rise to the top, ahead of everything else. Turn it off again to go back to the normal, most-recent-first order.

Reading a story and its updates

Open any story to see its full detail: a header image, the publish date and time, the full body text, and (when applicable) an Updates section.

If your property has added a follow-up to a story, for example new information, a correction, or a resolution, you will find those follow-ups listed at the top of the article, above the original post, so the newest information is always the first thing you see. This lets your property keep one story current over time instead of posting a brand-new item every time something changes.

Some story images come from Unsplash, a stock photo service your property may use when they do not have their own photo for a post. When that is the case, you will see a small photo credit overlaid on the image. This is just an attribution, not a link you need to act on.

Attachments

If your property has attached a document to a story, such as a flyer, meeting minutes, or a notice, you will see it listed under the story with a download link. Selecting it opens or downloads the file so you can save or print it.

What this means for you

  • You do not need to do anything to see news for both your property and your specific home; both appear in the same feed automatically.

  • News is read-only. You cannot post, reply, or comment; the feed is a way for your property to communicate with you.

  • Turning on "Urgent first" is a sorting choice, not a filter. Nothing is hidden from you either way.

  • If a story has updates, the newest information is always shown first, at the top of the article.

FAQ

Q: Can I reply to a news post or ask a question through it? A: No, the News feed is read-only. If you have a question about a post, contact your property manager directly, or reach out to hello@myurbi.co if you are not sure who to ask.

Q: I turned on "Urgent first" but a story I expected to see isn't there. Why? A: The toggle only reorders stories, it doesn't filter your feed. If a story is missing entirely, it may be targeted to a different home than the one you are currently viewing, so try switching homes if you have more than one.

Q: How do I know if a story has been updated since I last read it? A: Look for the update-count badge on the story card in the list, and check the "Updates" section at the top of the article for the newest information.

Q: Why do some photos have a small credit on them? A: Your property may use stock photography from Unsplash for posts without a photo of their own. The overlay is just an attribution to the photographer.

Q: I can't open an attachment. What should I do? A: Try again in a moment, and if it still doesn't open, contact hello@myurbi.co with the story name so we can look into it.
