  • How it works
  • If you see "already paid" or "payment in progress" on a shared invoice
  • Checking what's been paid

When an invoice is shared, each person pays only their own portion, and one person paying doesn't block anyone else from paying theirs. Everyone can pay independently, in any order.

Who this applies to: residents on a shared invoice, for example roommates, co-owners, or family members splitting a bill.

How it works

Each person on a shared invoice sees their own share amount, not the invoice total. When you pay, only your share is charged. The invoice itself tracks how much of the total has been collected as each person pays their part.

You don't need to coordinate timing with the other people on the invoice. Someone else paying their share first has no effect on your ability to pay yours, right after them or much later.

If you see "already paid" or "payment in progress" on a shared invoice

  • "Already paid" on your specific share means your portion is settled. Nothing more is owed from you on this invoice.
  • "Payment in progress" means someone (possibly you, possibly another payer) has an active payment attempt on this invoice right now. This clears on its own; see "A payment is already in progress" for what to do.

These two messages mean different things on purpose, so you always know whether your money is needed or someone else's payment is simply mid-flight.

Checking what's been paid

The invoice's payment history shows every payment applied to it, including who paid what, so you can always confirm what's left to be collected without guessing.
