Every payment now records which of your accounts the money actually landed in or came out of.
The payment window starts on Cash - Operating, because that is where most money moves. You do not have to do anything to accept it.
If the money went somewhere else, a reserve account or a second bank account, change it before you save. The dropdown lists every active asset account on the property, showing the account code and name.
On expenses, the starting account follows the fund the bill was recorded against. A bill recorded against Operating starts on your operating cash account; one recorded against Reserve starts on your reserve account when the property has one, and is left blank when it does not, so you pick it deliberately rather than having the wrong account chosen for you.
The account you pick is the one credited or debited in your books. Getting it right is what keeps each account's balance matching its real statement. Previously a single account was assumed for everything, so any payment through a different account had to be corrected by hand afterwards.
The system refuses payments into an account that is not an asset account, or one that belongs to a different property. You will see a message saying the selected account is not valid rather than a technical error.
If an account is locked for the period you chose, the payment is refused and the window explains that it is the account, not the date, that needs changing.
