Groups let you bundle related GL accounts under one budget line. For example, a "Utilities" group might contain Electric, Gas, and Water. The group carries a single budgeted amount; the individual accounts inside it are tracked for actuals only.
You need Manage or Full Access permission and must be in the full-page budget editor (either creating a new budget or editing an existing one).
Use a group when you want to budget a combined total for several accounts, rather than setting separate targets for each one. The actual spending per account still appears in the Budget vs Actual view when you expand the group, so you can see where the money went - just without separate budget targets per account.
A single account that is not in a group keeps its own budget amount and works the same way as always.
Note: The member accounts inside a group do not have their own budget cells in the grid. Only the group row carries a budget amount. Actual spending per member account is visible in the Budget vs Actual view when you expand the group.
