How to Edit or Resume a Budget

Resuming a Draft
A Draft budget keeps everything you saved with Save as draft. When you come back to it, the editor reloads exactly where you left off: groups, accounts, amounts, and entry modes.
- In the left sidebar, select Accounting, then Budgets.
- Click the Budget list tab.
- Find the Draft budget you want to continue. It shows a Draft status badge.
- Click Continue editing on that row.
- The full-page budget editor opens (not a slide-out panel) with all your previous entries loaded.
- Make your changes, then click Save as draft to save progress, or Activate in the toolbar when the budget is complete.
Note: The editor has an unsaved-changes guard. If you try to navigate away with pending edits, a prompt headed "Discard unsaved changes?" appears. Stay returns you to the editor exactly where you were, and pressing Escape does the same thing. Discard changes leaves and drops the edits.
Refreshing a brand-new budget
If you refresh the page on a budget you have just started but not yet saved, the rows URBI seeded for you are still there. You do not have to start the setup again.
Two limits are worth knowing:
- It only holds within the same browser tab. Opening the same address in a new tab, or on another machine, gives you an empty editor.
- It holds the rows URBI seeded when you chose how to start. Amounts and rows you added yourself before the first save are not kept.
So treat the refresh as protection against a stray reload, not as a substitute for Save as draft. Once you have saved once, everything behaves normally and the draft is on the server.
Editing an Active budget
Active budgets remain fully editable. Changes to an Active budget take effect immediately in the Budget vs Actual view.
- In the left sidebar, select Accounting, then Budgets.
- Click the Budget list tab (or find the active budget displayed in the page header).
- Find the Active budget - it shows an Active status badge.
- Click Edit on that row.
- The full-page budget editor opens with all current amounts loaded.
- Make your changes in the grid. Click Save changes when done.
Tip: Editing an Active budget does not change its status - it stays Active. If you want to prepare a new version without touching the live budget, duplicate it first and work on the copy as a Draft.
Viewing an Archived budget
Archived budgets are read-only. To view one, go to the Budget list tab, open the collapsible Archived section at the bottom of the list, find the budget, and click View. The full-page editor opens in read-only mode; no changes can be made.
