Saved rules that match bank transactions automatically now record the money properly. If you use these rules, this affects what you will see.
A rule that matches a bank transaction to a bill now records an actual payment against that bill, dated the day the transaction cleared your bank.
Before, some rules marked a bill paid without recording any payment. The bill disappeared from what you owe, but the money never moved in your books, so what you owed and what your accounts said drifted apart with no visible sign.
When a rule cannot tell which account the money came from, it now stops rather than guessing. The transaction stays matched to the bill, the bill stays unpaid, and you finish it by hand. This is deliberate: a payment recorded against the wrong account is harder to find and fix than one that was never recorded.
A rule that turns incoming money into an invoice now issues that invoice, records it as paid from that transaction, and dates both to the day the money arrived.
Before, it created a draft invoice and marked the bank line as done while recording nothing in your books.
These rules now require you to choose a billing account. When you edit the rule you will see a required Billing account field. Until one is chosen, the rule will not run. Previously it billed whichever account it happened to find first, with no ordering behind that choice.
If a rule starts creating an invoice and cannot finish, the bank transaction is now labelled Rule stopped in your list instead of appearing to have worked. It will not be retried automatically. Open it and finish it yourself, or fix the rule and run it again.
When you confirm a match that will mark a bill paid, the confirmation now names the exact date the payment will carry, rather than saying it will "record the bank payment date".
If that date falls in a closed or locked period, the confirmation explains this and the Confirm button is unavailable. The system will not quietly move the payment to a different, open date. Reopening the period is the only way forward, and that remains a separate deliberate step.
