When a resident or owner forwards part of an invoice to somebody else in their home, that portion becomes a share. A payment on the invoice as a whole now reaches those shares automatically, in proportion to what each party still owes, so nobody is asked for money that has already been paid on their behalf.
You can see all of this from the invoice itself, on the Forwarding and Splits tab of the invoice drawer.
Property management staff, board members, and PMs with access to the property's accounting. Residents and owners see their own side of the same shares in the resident app and the web portal.
Accounting > Invoices, open any invoice, then the Forwarding and Splits tab. Shares also appear on the transaction detail drawer under Accounting > Transactions, and a preview of what will change appears when you edit an invoice's total.
