FAQ: GL Void & Locked-Period Policy

Where did my voided entry go? It is hidden from the ledger by default to keep your view clean, but it is not deleted. To see it, apply the "Void" status filter in the General Ledger.

Does reversing in the current period change my closed period? No. The reverse-in-current path leaves the closed period completely untouched and balanced. The original entry stays where it was, and a balancing reversal is posted dated today in your current open period. The original entry shows a "Reversed" badge linking to that reversal.

Who has the "override locked period" permission? This is a senior, permission-gated capability, so most staff will not have it. If you see a message that a senior override is required, ask a colleague who holds the permission, or your administrator, to act on the closed or locked period.

What is the difference between the two override paths? Reverse-in-current (recommended) keeps your closed books intact and posts a correction in the current open period. Reopen-and-rebalance (advanced) reopens the closed or locked period and voids the entry there, after which you must rebalance and re-close or re-lock the period yourself. Prefer reverse-in-current unless you specifically need the change inside the original period.
