Property Settings has a Taxes section where you can add, name, and manage the tax rates available when you set up a charge.
Give the tax a name (for example, "HST" or "Sales Tax") and set its rate. That's it - you don't need to set up a tracking account yourself. The system automatically creates a dedicated place to track that tax's collected amount, connected to the rate you just created.
Previously, creating a tax rate required a manual account-selection step, and skipping it (or an oversight in how the form was built) could cause the save to fail outright. That's fixed: the account is created for you as part of saving the tax rate, every time.
You can mark one tax rate as the default for new charges, so staff don't have to pick a rate every time for the common case. Creating a new default automatically replaces the previous one - there's never more than one default at a time.
If your property already had tax rates set up before this release, they keep working exactly as they did - nothing about an existing tax rate's tracking account changes on its own. This release only changes what happens when you create a NEW tax rate, and adds the shared general tracking account used for custom, unnamed tax amounts (see "What tax looks like on an invoice").
