GL Void & Locked-Period Policy: Overview

When you void a journal entry, URBI now removes it cleanly from your ledger balance instead of leaving behind a confusing offsetting pair. A voided entry is hidden from the ledger by default, and you can still see it anytime using the "Void" status filter.

This update also protects your closed books. If an entry sits in a period that is already closed or locked, voiding or correcting it is blocked by default. To act on a closed or locked period, you need the senior "override locked period" permission. This is a permission-gated capability, so most staff will not have it. When you do have it, you get a clear choice between two safe ways to fix the entry.

Who can use it:

• Any staff or PM with general ledger access can void or correct entries in open periods.
• Only users with the senior "override locked period" permission can act on closed or locked periods.

Where to find it: Open the General Ledger, select the journal entry you want to change, and use the void or correct action on that entry.
