Suspense / Unclassified (1900) is a holding account URBI sets up automatically for every property. It's there for one purpose: letting you finish reconciling a bank account even when you can't yet explain every dollar of the difference.
Applies to: All properties with accounting enabled. This account is seeded automatically; you don't need to create it.
When you're reconciling a cash account and you're left with a small difference you can't immediately identify (say, a bank fee or an unmatched deposit you need to look into), you don't have to stop and figure it out on the spot. Book the difference to Suspense instead, so your reconciliation can move forward while you investigate.
Suspense is a normal account on your books, not a workaround outside the GL. Anything sitting in it is visible like any other balance.
Use Suspense when:
Don't use it as a permanent home for a difference. It's meant to be cleared, not carried forward indefinitely.
Once you know where a Suspense balance actually belongs, book a journal entry that moves it out of Suspense and into the correct account. This is the same Add JE action you use for any other reconciliation fix, just pointed at Suspense on one side and the real account on the other.
Suspense isn't just per-account. It's tracked property-wide, for the whole period. A non-zero Suspense balance anywhere in the period blocks Close account on every cash account in that period, not just the one where the balance originated. Clear Suspense back to $0 before you try to close.
