How to Adjust Budget Amounts by Percentage

The Adjust by percentage panel lets you raise or lower the budgeted amounts for multiple accounts at once. This is useful when you need to apply a blanket increase (for example, a 5% cost-of-living uplift) or cut multiple lines at the same time.

You need Manage permission. Adjustments change the entered budget amounts for the selected accounts.

Open the Adjust by percentage panel

1. In the left sidebar, go to Accounting, then Budgets.
2. Open the budget you want to adjust -- Active or Draft both work.
3. In the budget editor, look for the Adjust by % action (usually in the toolbar or the actions menu at the top of the account table).
4. Click it to open the panel.

Select accounts and set the percentage

1. In the panel, check the box next to each group or account you want to adjust. You can select all, or pick individual lines.
2. Enter the percentage to apply. Use a positive number to increase (for example, 5 for +5%) or a negative number to decrease (for example, -10 for -10%).
3. The panel shows a live preview of the before and after amounts for each selected row.

Apply the adjustment

1. Review the preview to confirm the changes look right.
2. Click Apply adjustment.

The budgeted amounts update immediately. If this is a Draft, the changes are saved. If this is an Active budget, the updated amounts take effect in the Budget vs Actual view right away.

Note: Percentage adjustments change the entered budget amounts. They are separate from reallocations, which move surplus between accounts without changing the entered amounts.
